Things to be discussed here:
- Guild specialization= PvP, PvE, WvW
- Guild Objective as a whole
- Guild behavior = role playing, laid back, or normal
- One leader guild or multiple leader guild

In between PvP, PvE, and WvW, I personally like WvW more. The only problem with WvW is the queue, and the time in wait. Besides that its a great aspect of the game and we can really use a guild party to accomplish different objectives like capturing a place, owning a territory, world events, and even building siege weaponry. This is the place were I can see a very united guild fighting together for a single purpose.
I had yet to try PvP, but in other MMOs I would be on PvP all the time. The thing is that I dont know how team oriented is, and how the system works.
So far with PvE its too easy. There is almost no help needed in the main missions, and exploring its easy for some classes of course. But I can see a high team based need in some of the dungeons.

If I put myself in the position of what kind of guild I will be looking for, this are my thoughts:
- I would be looking for a guild in which most of the members are active and able to help me if necessary.
- One where I can discuss my thoughts
- One where I can join a party of them and have a blast fighting and playing together
- One that has a purpose
- One with a mature and experienced leader in which I can trust he/she knows what its doing managing the guild
- One that cares about me

I believe we can become this kind of guild. Actually I had been trying to lead this guild become one in which I would like to join. But it requires other members to feel the same way, to show some interest, and help guide this guild to what everyone wishes for it to be.

I really dont mind what kind of guild behavior we take. What I can say is that i have been in all the 3 kinds, and I really like when the guild role plays because its fun and kind of gives me a purpose. Laid back kind of gives the members the freedom to do as they wish, but leaving them open to selecting another guild capable of giving them a purpose. And a normal behavior is a combination of both, but specialized on none.
In this topic I really dont mind since I can take the role of any. Is really up to you guys.

A one leader guild basically leave in the hands of one person the management of the guild. The guild is as strong as its leader. Morale of the whole guild also depends on its leader. The only problem is if a leader fall, so does the guild.
Now there is also a way to resolve some the leadership cons and its what some call a Core.
A Core is basically multiple leaders ( 2,3,4, or 5) managing and leading the guild as a whole. If one leader falls, the guild does not fall because there are still a leader or better said there is still the Core.
I have been part of a guild that has taken this method into their guild system and it really works. The guild has been running for more than 5 years and is still around because of this method. Now even though I wish we can acquire this method for this guild, the successful way is to start the guild with a friend or someone trustworthy, in which case I didnt since my only trustworthy friend does not play guild wars because he cant afford it, and the other trustworthy people I know are loyal to another game.
I believe I can still achieve this Core method but it will take time. Also as an honorable leader im leaving decisions into your hands until it does not work anymore

Hey John,

I read and agree with most of your thoughts. I have not been part of a serious guild before so not sure I have much to add. I will say that I tend to be more laid back in my play style but as I have more time, I think I would enjoy a good RPG styled guild. I haven't tried out PvP or WvW but would enjoy learning with others in the group. In all honesty my boys would be in the front of the line for that style of gaming (as well as the RP'ing).

I do like the idea of having a core leadership group in the guild. This of course can be built over time.
